Happy New Year, 2023 Students!
The Lambda Gamma Gamma Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.’s Talent Hunt 2023 registration is now open for all high school students in grades 9-12 in the DC/MD/VA metropolitan area to submit auditions. This year’s theme is “Omega’s Got Talent!” Contestants will compete in the categories of instrumental (classical & traditional), vocal, drama (spoken word, MIME, poetry), dance, and visual arts to compete for cash prizes and the opportunity to meet at our 75th Second District Conference Talent Event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. If desired, contestants can participate in one (1) performing arts category and the visual arts category.
The Talent Hunt event will be a live (in-person) event held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 1:00 pm EST at the Charles H. Flowers High School at 10001 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Springdale, Maryland, 20774. Winners of the event will receive cash & trophy prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category. Cash prizes total $2,500.00!! The overall winner in the performing arts & visual arts category will receive an additional cash prize and will qualify to perform at the 75th Second District Talent Hunt program, which will be held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, April 22, 2023, and the opportunity to win additional monies, scholarships, and prizes.
AUDITIONS
Auditions will be held on Saturday, February 4th and 11th, at the Charles H. Flowers High School Auditorium. Contestants should arrive at 8:30 am EST to register and sign in. Walk-in registrations are allowed. Auditions will be held from 8:30 am until 3:00 pm EST for each session. Charles H. Flowers High School is located at 10001 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Springdale, Maryland, 20774. Contestants will receive a Talent Hunt Guideline document during the registration process detailing the requirements for performing. As well, all registrants will participate in a conference call which will be scheduled before the audition sessions.
VIDEO AUDITIONS (FOR SENIORS WHO WILL BE TESTING ON FEBRUARY 1st-14th)
We recognize that testing may occur from February 1st-14th for most seniors in high school. Prospective senior (12th Grade) contestants can submit video auditions for their performing categories via the “Contestant Video Audition Submission Form” section below. ALL OTHER CONTESTANTS MUST PLAN TO ATTEND THE AUDITION SESSION EITHER FEBRUARY 4th or 11th. Contestants in the performing arts of Dance, Vocal, and Drama (Spoken Word/Poetry) will have a five (5) minute limitation to conduct their audition performance. Instrumental (classical/traditional) performers will have six (6) minutes to perform their audition (NOTE: Please ensure that your auditions do not exceed the maximum time limit).
Visual artists wishing to participate should upload a video sample of their artwork & imagery (both in video & stills) of at least 3-5 pieces for evaluation.
The audition submission/uploads will be open until Saturday, February 18, 2023, @ 5:00 pm EST.
NOTE: Video audition submissions should be in the form of a URL that has the link to your performance. If you wish to upload a video image/file for your auditions, please email ‘talenthunt@capitalregionques.org‘. We will provide you a link to our OneDrive or DropBox folder so that you can upload your audition. (NOTE: Ensure that your video is set to “wide” perspective for optimal viewing and also ensure that the link is password-free)
